Our book is officially finished and has been sent to the printer! We took all necessary pictures, wrote and thoroughly edited all biographies with help from our outside mentor, Katherine, and finalized all pages of the book. We sent it in time to recieve it by the Fellows Fair, so we will have copies in our hands by then, which was our goal from the beginning. Until then, we will be making the online version of the book and the audio edit that we had also originally planned for. We are extremely proud of finishing the main portion of our project and following our schedule perfectly to get the book in time!

Welcome back! This past two weeks we have been working harder than ever, and it is paying off; we have finished all of our biographies and taken all pictures, so our book is done (minus the final touches)! This has included listening to all interviews and taking notes, writing the biographies, editing them ourselves, sending them to our out of school mentor, Katharine, incorporating her notes, and sending them to the interviewee to make sure they are okay with what was written. All that is left now is the final review of the biographies and all text portions in the book, then we are ready to send it to be printed. To make sure it is perfect, we are sending it to our out of school mentor and Ms. Johnson to review. If all goes well with the printer, we are on time to recieve and be able to present the book at the fellows fair during A period! This is the last stretch!
Welcome back! Since our last post we have continued our writing and taking photos. We are still working with our out of school mentor Katharine Coldiron, she has been giving us feedback and edits for each biography. We have also reached out to Miss Maxey about the printing process. She prints the Mainsheet for the Upper School, and we were directed by Mrs. Carsley for our printing. After talking, we've decided that the final copy needs to be completed and sent to the printer 4 weeks before we want it which would be next Wednesday. Our time is currently filled with editing and making final edits to our book. We have 3 more photos to take and have completed 42 photos. Belong our some pictures of us in action. Over the past couple of weeks we have reached out to the Eney family regarding photos of Van for our page that is dedicated to them. Mr. and Mrs. Eney have sent us a variety of photos for us to use and we are looking forward to the final project!
Hello and welcome back! Since the first of March, we have been getting through the writing of our biographies. We have each written 3/4 of our biographies (we previously split up the writing work) that must be done by the end of spring break, which is in a week. We are following our schedule very well, and we feel confident we will continue reaching our goals in a timely manner. We also emailed Ms. Maxey to discuss printing our book. As we said in the last blog post, after we are done writing the biographies, the two weeks before we must send our book to be printed will be used to finalize the writing portions and the layout of the book; all of the nitty gritty details. We don't have any tangible evidence for this blog post because we want all of the interviews to be shared in our final copy. Thanks!
Hello and welcome back! Our current focus right now is writing the biographies and we are half way done. We have reached out to our outside of school mentor, Katharine Coldieron, for some editing help. She has given us great feedback such as some technical grammar mistakes, but also making each flow together and make our biographies more beyond just the interview. We have also taken multiple pictures of our interviewees. Our plan for spring break is to complete all of the biographies and written portions of the book over spring break, so when we come back to school our only focus is the pictures. When returning from spring break we will have two weeks to complete this. We also met with Mr. Glasby, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to discuss our inclusion and representation of the Severn community in our project. He directed us towards Admissions and Ms. Kierstead to find the demographics of school. The notes from our meeting is down below. We are looking good but still have work to do! Welcome back! Our project has been on a great track. We have officially finished all of our interviews! We have also started a new shared calendar app (Asana) for us to plan out the next few weeks of writing to meet our deadlines. Attached is what we have on our calendar so far. We have also continued working on the interviews, including taking notes and writing the biographies. We have also taken pictures of our interviewees for the book, and we are done with pictures for 3 of our interviewees! We have found that tracking them down for pictures is not difficult, and we are able to do this efficiently and easily. The next few weeks will all be the same thing: writing and taking pictures. We have planned out in our calendar what we need to get done weekly. We will also contact the printing company we are going to use once it is finalized that they are the one we are using.
Since our last blog post, we have made more progress in the same areas, such as taking more notes on the interviews and continuing writing the official interviews. We have two interviews remaining still which have been extremely difficult to plan due to the interviewees schedules, but we have one meeting set for next week, and are still in communication with the other interviewee. We met with Ms. Johnson to talk more about printing the book and making sure it looks perfect, and we figured out our printing company we will use. We also had our semester 1 presentation yesterday where we made a powerpoint presenting our achievements and goals and showed physical evidence, such as these notes that weve taken and our printed dummy book that included our finished interview.
Hi! Since our last post we have been keeping up with the same things. We have our first biography completed and we are almost done our interviews. We originally planned for all of our interviews to be completed by winter break, but we were set back due to time. Regarding the writing process, we have been going back and listening to each interview and taking detailed notes to help us when writing. We have also started two more writing and are on track to print by the beginning of April. Our book outline is also finished, but it might change with our writing and photos. Hello everyone! This is the first blog post of 2023! Since our last post, we have been doing a good job keeping up with our goals. Over winter break, we completed one full interview along with our layout for the book (some photos will be shown below. We are continuing writing our interviews which will be completed by Mid-April. We are also preparing for our Fellows presentation at the end of the month. This is where we will present everything we have and where we are in our process. Our original goal was to have all of the interviews done before winter break and we didn't quite meet that, but we only have a few left. From now on our posts won't be very interesting because all we are doing is writing! We reached out to Mrs. Carsley regarding some photos of Van Eney that we can include in our book and are waiting on those. We also have to check in with Ms. Johnson to receive feedback on the edits we made to the book design. The last thing to add is that we plan to complete two full interviews and then send them to our mentor Katharine Coldiron to help edit them. Hey guys! We don't have much of an update for you since we are heading into winter break. We have been continuing our process of interviewing about 2 people each week. We didn't meet our original goal to interview everyone by winter break, but we only have five left to do and plan on completing them in the first two weeks when we are back in school. With that being said we have met with Mrs. Carsley for a check in on where we are. We linked the notes we took with her down below. Our biggest takeaway was to create a dummy book for our next presentation and that the book needs to be completed by mid April. We also met with our in school mentor, Ms. Johnson and share our current goals with her. This includes fully completing the design of the book, complete one full biography, and to start plan out when the photos will be taken. Our next blog post will be in one month and we hope to have all of our interviews completed! We also wanted to give a shoutout to Mr. Donn for letting us constantly use the recording studio! |
